Discussion with family member who is an Elder in our congregation

so about a week ago, i showed my cousin & her husband [an elder in our congregation] the picture on pg 29 of our 4/15/2013 study wt and asked, "if jesus is head of the congregation then where is he?".

after several minutes of searching, dead silence.. i then asked if they had heard the part on the 2012 summer district conv the part about "our spiritual mother, where the c.o said that "the bible by itself does not shine thru as life-giving truths just by itself.

" they were shocked and said that i must have misheard it because that would be apostasy.

Well it's been a week and no letters or phone calls yet. I know he won't stop & think of anything I said.

this makes me so mad because they're appealing to this forum18/osce [u.n.] to get their religious freedom, but look what they do to their own people.. i just got an e-mail from a friend [current jw] he said they're 'softening to a kinder gentler wtbt$' really????

obviously they haven't told the all the other jw's because we're still being shunned and called nasty mentally diseased apostates.

Thank you. My husband & I were watching a documentary about 'The Prophets' from the History channel and they mentioned that Ezekiel started writing his prophecies in 593 B.C.E, so we looked it up in the NWT. They say he was writing from 613-591 bce. They had to change the date to make it before 607bce, but they don't realize that it still leaves a thinking person to question that if he completed his writings according to that WT and distributed it out to the general public then the writings had to be COMPLETED before the destruction.

Just a thought.

I just saw this one on another thread and am still scratching my head over this one:

This week the CO said that when u don't get up for service there's an angel standing by your bed who goes back to Jesus and says "I wanted to go out in service but he wouldn't get up". This was part of his talk where he said the angels want to serve God and go out in service but the only way they can is by following us around while we do it. They NEED the publishers to take them out in service.

How's that for more guilt and pressure?

Here's a stumper my husband & I just came across.... If you look in the front of your NWT at when the books of the bible were written, Ezekiel FINISHED writing his prophecies in 591 bce. If you use WTBT$ date of 607 B.C.E, then that means he was NOT a prophet, but simply writing history down that Jerusalem HAD been destroyed. It's a catch-22, either he was a prophet and finished his writings BEFORE the destruction of Jerusalem [which would make it after 591 B.C.E] or he's a false prophet and was just writing history after the fact. HUMMMMMMMM In the following article from the WT, the prophecies had been written and distributed to the public. another HMMMMMMM

Unbelievable Assertion!!!!!!!

we had our special assembly day this weekend.. what the district overseer stated in his talk totally stunned me, and made me feel sick to my stomach.

he said, "christ is directing us through the governing body, and we cannot get holy spirit except through them!".

i do not wish to reveal all my thoughts on his statement, but i pray to god that it acts as a wake-up call to at least some of the audience.. suffice to say that the gb is now the mediator to our mediator, and from now on, i will have to pray for holy spirit through the name of the gb!!.

When I mentioned this to my cousin who is an elder he said that I must have misheard it. He then went to his personal audio recording and admitted that 'Yes, it was said, but like the Ethiopian Eunich, we do need someone to teach us." I told him that I have been in the 'truth' for 49 yrs, at what point do we stop sucking on the milk and study the word of God for ourselves?
